Quarter life crisis

I feel depressed recently despite being promoted and getting bonus. The reality of being a supervisor has not yet dawn upon me. I do not know why I am feeling depressed too. Hmm

Was telling Albert that I am having a quarter life crisis. He told me, “you need to find a new hobby.”

But that hobby will only last till before the peak starts….. Or it is like I felt that I have accomplished nothing??

Welcome, 2010

It has been a long time since I last blogged. Omg is it like a year ago? So many things had since happened. Friends getting married, promotion is just round the corner, Albert doing his masters, Dad got a new car, grandma hospitalised, sister staying with me now in Singapore……

Just chat with Aikit on msn. I really love and miss her. She is just so wise. Work: busy since last year. Haven’t felt off-peak yet and the next peak is about to start. Colleagues who have left, Tricia, Wang Xia, Lynnette…Really felt lost when the closest colleagues left. A strong team of 13, now left with 3 of us. However, am blessed that we all still manage to keep in contact. I chat with mole on a daily basis, keeping each other updated with lives.

Something Aikit said strike me, “Be a nice supervisor ok? At the end of the day, you must be clear of your conscience, and remember the days we all yearn to have nice seniors and supervisors and yet being able to learn at the same time.” This brought me back to my A1 and A2 lives when we really all yearn to have good seniors, dread those fierce seniors. Those were the days when we still have each other. Audit is a special professional with little office politics. It is a place where strong bridges of friendship are built. It is also the place with the worst workload. But having said this, many people who left this profession miss the job, mainly because of the people factor. Most of us came from the same university, the same course, came to the working world fresh and innocent. Being introduced to the tough and multi-facet society together. At the end of the day, when we look back…… we are still just us =)

I look forward to catching up with each and everyone of u =)

Back to Dongguan again

There had been a lot of changes this time as compared to the last time I came here. Accomodation arrangment is different, management is different, team is different, expectations are different. The only thing that remains the same is …..audit fee.

I feel that it is really hard to manage this team. Everyone of us has different expectations on accomodation, food etc. Sometimes it will be easier to just decide on something all by one self and be the bad person instead of trying to compromise to everyone. This serves as a lesson for me to learn regarding team management.

The next time I come here, these stuff will be history and history will not repeat itself.

I celebrated vesak day in two monstaries. One in Satipatthana Meditation Centre, Sembawang (with Albert) and another in Wat Pa, Ulu Tiram (with family and Albert). It has been a long time since I did chanting and listen to dharma talk.

One of the Syadaw talked about the topic fruition of karma vs creation of karma, which strike something deep in me. So now, everything not so nice that happened, I will treat it with calmess and try not react in anger. This will be accepting the fruition of karam and not creating new karma.

Life now…

Time passes fast. Everyday passed with such a blur, and in a blink, it is time to sleep, then time to wake up and then time to start work.

Am beginning to enjoy the off-peak season. Leaving work by 6.30pm, not many late nights anymore =) But sadly, peak is going to start soon again :(   Work has been going on quite smoothly and hope this will continue.

I just celebrated my 25th birthday a month ago. Thanks all for remembering my birthday and thanks my special one for making it such a memorable one. A huge and pretty bouquet of sunflowers and pretty balloons simply made my day *smiles* I am really a quarter of a century old. In another 30 years, I will be retiring. Time flies. Time really files.

Perhaps it is because I am turing old, I am becoming less patience and more snappy. Have to learn to note and control temper.

I stumbled upon the  “Lonely Planet: Western Europe” in the library and borrowed it. It is really embarassing how little I know about Europe. Like I didn’t know only Britain uses Sterling Pound, Liechtenstein uses Swiss Franc,

I didn’t know that the capital of Britain is London, capital of Austria is Vienna,  heh here it goes….

Austria – Vienna, Belgium – Brussles, Britain – London, France – Paris, Germany – Berlin, Greece - Athens, Ireland – Dublin, Northern Ireland – Belfast, Italy – Rome, Lirchtenstein – Vaduz, Luxembourg - Luxembourg City…… wah there is still so much more to go!

It has been a long time since my last update.  It is the peak period now with many late nights. There are many ups and downs during this period. Peak for senior as compared to assistant level is totally different. There is just so much more responsibilities to assume. Work is just never ending. 2 colleagues tendered but took back their resignation. The thought of doing MBA arose today when my mum told me that my cousin will be doing his MBA in US together with his wife after their honeymood. This sounds like a dream to come true. How nice it is to return to study life with one’s partner.  I dream……

Have been watching quite a number of movies recently, Slumdog, Marley and Me, He is just not into you. Heartwarming, hilarious, entertaining, enriching. I enjoy watching movies very much. It is like reading a story book in just two hours. I especially like listening to everyone’s views after each movies. I like……

My relationship has entered into the stable stage after a series of roller-coaster especially in the first year. Coming 30 March will be our second year together. Time passes fast. Plans to apply for a BTO in Woodlands. Due to our busy schedule, time spent together is very much treasured. Recently, took a stroll around my neighbourhood, had Indian food for dinner, visited Mustafa, something that we haven’t done for a long time. Took a stroll around his neighbourhood to take a look at the plot of BTO, share a MacFurry while chatting about our day and views of life.  Blissful times spent. I treasure……

Took a trip to at 2008 year end to Vietnam, Grik and Bentong (Thailand) with Albert and Family. Trips at the end of the year are hard to come by for me. The starry nights, the rice terrences, the motorcycle trips round the mountains, the monk who lived in cave, sucked by leeches, dim sum in Bentong. Wonderful memories. I yearn…….

Relationship with family has been always good. Dad is cheerful these days. Mum is learning a new course. Sister is having a production tomorrow. Grandma just went for an operation to remove her cataract. Cousin getting married. Divorces in the family. Busy but eventful new year spent. I experience…….

All in all, life has been rather kind on me. I need to seek for a purpose in life. A long term goal in life. Perhaps a trip, perhaps a MBA, perhaps ………

Being in the audit line when we are constantly dealing with issues and meeting tight deadlines, it is really a virtue to have a calm attitude when dealing with issues.

This week, I witness a transition of the change in attitude of someone which I have had deep respect for. I wonder if it is because of my work that led to that change or it is really her who had changed.

Perhaps at the top, only the “toughest and meanest” survive.

My job is to get my work done. Perhaps I need to adopt a change in attitude too. This is the part of audit I hate. The people dealing.

Pictures from Vietnam

Cha Ca Va Long

This is the Cha Ca Va Long that I found in the  book “1000 places to visit before you die”. It is freaking expensive and is just grilled dory fish in a pan. It is definately not one of the 1000 places I want to visit before I die. (0.5 /5 stars)

Vietnam coffee

Vietnam Coffee. Cost around S$1.50. The taste is really very strong but it is special way of drinking coffee. Am not really a coffee lover myself though so it is (1/5 stars)

Metropolis

This is taken at the most posh hotel in Hanoi, the Metropolis. Albert said that this is where the journalists will gathering during the war and it is symbolic to visit that place. Cost us USD35 for 2 drink and a salmon sandwich. (4/5 stars)
